Shale
Shale is an app where you collect modules on your Home screen. A module is one tool: a chat, a poll, a calendar, a status page or a connected service. You add modules in the app under "Discover" or open them from a link or a QR code.
What you do with Shale
- Home: your modules on one screen, each with what is coming up, for example the next date or a new message.
- Chats: direct messages with friends and chats in groups, with pictures and files.
- Polls and forms: choices, ratings, free text, date polls and rankings. With a shared link, people can also answer in the browser without an account.
- Calendar: one-off and recurring dates, "count me in", reminders and a calendar link for Google, Apple and Outlook.
- Status pages: the state of services with incidents, maintenance and uptime, in the app and as a public web page.
- Everyday: official warnings for your district (NINA, Germany), your municipality's waste collection dates with a message the evening before, the temperature at your place and new articles from news sites and blogs (RSS).
- Connecting services: for example T3 Code. The threads on your computer show up in Shale; you answer, approve steps or stop them from your phone. A module's notifications can also go to Discord or Telegram.
- Workflows: when something happens in a module, actions, messages and calls to other services run one after another.
For creators and organisations
An organisation has members with roles. It sets up modules for its members and can make them public: in "Discover", through a link or as a web page people read without the app.
Signing in
You sign in with your e-mail address and a code, with a passkey or with your Google or Apple account. With Google and Apple, Shale receives your account's id there, your e-mail address and your name. Shale uses them only to sign you in and set up your account, and does not pass them on. The details are in the privacy policy (section 3.13).
How to get Shale
- Android: coming soon to the Google Play Store.
- iPhone and iPad: later in the App Store.
Until then, a small group is testing the app.
